Detroit Innovation District (TBA)

The future Gratiot Site Innovation District is a 14-acre district being developed in downtown Detroit by Bedrock, in partnership with key stakeholders in academia, industry, and entrepreneurship. Historically home to healthcare facilities, university programs, and Black-owned businesses (1910s–1950s), it is now poised to honor its legacy of inclusive healthcare and entrepreneurship by driving new career, business, and education opportunities in life sciences, precision medicine, and urban technology. With private investment, strong regional partnerships, and a focus on diversifying Detroit’s economy, the district will support innovation-driven enterprises, expand industry-led research, and enhance community engagement. It will serve as a model for how privately-led innovation districts can strategically position real estate assets to foster cross-sector collaboration.
