The Monash Technology Precinct is the largest hub for employment and innovation in Victoria outside Melbourne’s Central Business District and one of the largest districts globally, with over 20,000 businesses, 115,000 jobs, over 50,000 university students and contributing AU$11.5B to the economy on an annual basis. Job figures are forecast to double with the development of a new Monash Rail station. The precinct has a sprawling set of specialisations and hosts knowledge-based industries and global companies in the fields of education, health, new technologies and advanced manufacturing, and is the front door to the advanced manufacturing belt in the southeast of Melbourne. It is home to a sizable and expanding startup and spinout ecosystem (91 spinouts in total, of which 48 are active with 6-8 additional spinouts annually) that has produced ASX listed companies.
